I took my car in for service recently and told them to do whatever it needs. There was nothing wrong with the car but my service bill was over $200.00. Is this an excessive amount for nothing being broken? | Answer
Periodic maintenance saves you money in the long run. Transmission fluid, antifreeze and differential lubricant should all be changed on a periodic basis, but are most often neglected in error. Even power steering and brake fluid should be changed once in a while. The cost of investment in changing these fluids is low in comparison to changing a radiator, steering rack, transmission or drive differential. The biggest reason they don't get changed is that people tell the mechanic what they want done instead of asking him to do what is advisiable. Find a good mechanic and then trust him! |
